Description

Forwa can insert metal, ceramic or plastic pieces into molten thermoplastic. The inserts can be threaded or other attachments to join custom parts to one another.
Insert molding can reduce cost by embedding secondary plastic parts into the molding process, as opposed to installing the inserts after molding. By integrating the inserts at the time of molding, the parts become more robust compared to placing the pieces in post-molding. Of course, the insert pieces must be able to withstand the high-temperature and pressure of the injection molding process.

Process for Insert Molding — Plastic Injection Molding

  1. Load your 3D CAD file to get your mold and part quote.
  2. Add your requirements for inserts in the comments, and your project manager will contact you.
  3. Upon order confirmation, Forwa starts the mold and part order process.
  4. Tooling design review by Forwa engineers.
  5. Upon design approval,Forwa begins building your injection mold.
  6. Customer examines samples for approval.
  7. Part production begins.
